ABRAHAM'S REGATTA 2006

SAILING INSTUCTIONS

 

 

1     RULES

1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008.

1.2. Prescriptions of Slovenian Sailing Federation will apply only for Slovenian boats.

1.3. If there is a conflict between languages the Slovene text will prevail.

 

2     NOTICES TO COMPETITORS

Notices to competitors will be posted on the offcial notice board located in front of Race office in Marina Izola.

 

3     CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 10:30.

 

4     SIGNALS MADE ASHORE

Signals made ashore will be displayed at signal mast in Marina Izola.

 

5     PROGRAMME

5.1 Saturday  28.10.05   09:00 – 11:00      regitrations and entry fee collection
                                    12:00                    start of Abraham's regatta 2006
                                    19:00                    Abraham's dinner for competitors
                                                                  prize giving ceremony
                                                                  party with live music

5.2 One race is scheduled.

5.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is at 12:55.

 

6     CLASS FLAGS

Class flag for classes open and J/24 will be JK Veter flag.

 

7     RACING AREA

Racing area will be in the bay of Izola.

 

8     THE COURSES

8.1 The diagrams in Attachment A show the courses, including the approximate angles between legs, the order in which marks are to be passed, and the side on which each mark is to be left.

8.2 a)Red flag on the Race Committee boat:
Start - 1 - 2 - 3 - 1 - Finish (marks 1, 2 and 3 have to be left on the port side).

b) Green flag on the Race Committee boat:
Start - 3 - 2 - 1 - 3 - Finish (marks 1, 2 and 3 have to be left on the starboard side)

 


 

9     MARKS

9.1 Marks 1, 2 and 3 will be orange inflatable buoys.

9.2 Startning marks will be orange inflatable buoy on port side and RC boat on starboard side.

9.3 Finishing marks will be:
- red course: mark no. 2 on port side and RC boat on starboard side
- green course: mark no 2. on starboard side and RC boat on port side

 

10  THE START

10.1              Race will be started by using rule 26 with the warning signal given 5 minutes before the starting signal.

10.3              The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on RC boat on starboard end and the port-end startning mark.

10.4              A boat starting later than 30 minutes after the starting signal will be scored Did Not Start. This changes rule A4.

 

11  THE FINISH

The finishing line will be between:
- red course: a staff displayning a blue flag on the finishing mark at the starboard and the mark no. 2 on port-end
- green course: a staff displayning a blue flag on the finishing mark at the port and the mark no. 2 on starboard-end.

 

12  PENALTY SYSTEM

Rules 44.1 and  44.2 are changed so that the only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required.

 

13  TIME LIMIT

13.1  Time limit is untill 16:30.

13.2  Boats failing to finish a race untill 16:30 will be scored Did Not Finish. This changes rules 35 and A4.

 

14  PROTESTS AND REQUESTS FOR REDRESS

14.1  Protest fee for single protest is 20.000,00 SIT and will be returned if the protest will be solved in your advantage.

14.2  Protest forms are available at the race office in hotel Riviera Izola. Protests shall be delivered there within the protest time limit.

14.3  Protest time limit is 60 minutes after the protesting boat passed finishing line and finished the race.

14.4  Notices will be posted within 5 minutes of the protest time limit to inform competitors of hearings in which they are parties or named as witnesses. Place and time of hearing will be defined in notice.

14.5  Noitices of protests by the race committee or protest committee will be posted to inform boats under rule 61.1(b).

14.6  If members of protest committe will not be avialable, protest will be discussed by three helmsmans present on the regatta and are not invoilved in incident.

 

15  SCORING

The Low Point scoring system of Appendix A will apply.

 

16  EQUIPMENT AND MESUREMENT CHECKS

A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions.

 

17  RADIO COMMUNICATION

17.1  Notices to competiotors will be made by using the VHF channel 69.

17.2  A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

 

18  PRIZES

18.1  Prizes will be given as follows:
- first boat, if there are two boats in class,
- first two boats, if there are three to five boats in class,
- first three boats if there are six or more boats in class.

18.2  Prize giving ceremony will be hold on Saturday evening in Hotel Riviera in Izola.

 

19  DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decison to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjuction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

 

20  INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
